First Appointment and what to expect
Consultation
A qualified clinician (dentist with appropriate training) will conduct a private consultation. This includes:
Discussing your concerns, goals and expectations.
Reviewing your medical history, allergies, medications, previous cosmetic treatments and any neurological or muscular conditions.
Assessing the facial muscles, skin condition and facial symmetry to determine suitable treatment areas.
Explaining the treatment options, realistic outcomes, limitations and alternative treatments.
Discussing potential risks and side effects, and answering your questions.
If treatment is appropriate and you give informed consent, the clinician will agree to a personalised treatment plan including the number of units and target areas.
Consent and photography
You’ll be asked to sign a consent form confirming understanding of the treatment, risks and aftercare.
Standardised clinical photographs will be taken for your records. These are stored securely in line with data protection regulations.
The treatment
The clinician will cleanse the treatment area and may apply a cold pack or topical anaesthetic if needed, although most people find the injections only mildly uncomfortable.
Anti-wrinkle injections are given with a very fine needle into specific facial muscles. The procedure typically takes 10–30 minutes depending on the number of areas treated.
You may notice minor discomfort, redness, tiny pinprick marks or a little swelling immediately after.
